Why I am quitting programming

-Too many people who don’t know what they’re doing technically weigh in, essentially not appreciating the craft involved.

-It is impossible to find a job without experience in very specific areas.  Then when you finally get the experience, jobs don’t work out.  HR people then dig into into “work history” and it becomes a frustrating loop of constant job searching, working for companies that are not that great.

-I am not a computer scientists, but a database based programmer.  Many of these aps are working out of the box and all you need to do is customize UI via point and click; you no longer need to code because of canned software.

-The viewpoint among peers that if you are stuck in older technologies, that you cannot learn the new ones.  This is garbage.  Some of the most talented programmers still program in Visual Basic (I don’t).

-My Masters should open me to another set of white collar office jobs.

Finishing up a Master’s in Data Analytics at York College of Pa

I should be done at the end of the year and my goal is to get out of programming, but to still have a White Collar job.  Programming has too many people who do not understand the art and craft involved and too many managers who do not understand the tech calling shots.  Programmers are treated like garbage and the intricacy of what they are doing is not appreciated.  So why do so such intricate work, when I can have another white collar job?

For a while I started working blue collar jobs, but it was not a great fit.  I am still basically an office person – basically a computer person.   However, coding is both obsolete and disrespected.
